Day 1 | Arrival in Paro – Transfer to Thimphu

Welcome to Paro, Bhutan, where dramatic Himalayan peaks provide a spectacular welcome to Bhutan. Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your tour guide from Bhutan Escapes Journeys and begin the scenic drive to Thimphu.

The journey follows winding river valleys and traditional settlements, offering your first glimpse of Bhutan's pristine landscapes and unique way of life. Depending on your arrival time, visit the Memorial Chorten and enjoy a leisurely introduction to the city's vibrant atmosphere.

Day 2 | Exploring Bhutan's Cultural Capital

Today is dedicated to discovering the rich heritage of Thimphu.

Visit the majestic Buddha Dordenma, overlooking the valley from a scenic hilltop, before exploring the Traditional Arts School, where Bhutan's artistic traditions continue to flourish. Continue to the Folk Heritage Museum and learn about traditional Bhutanese lifestyles and customs.

Later, visit the magnificent Tashichho Dzong, the seat of Bhutan's government and central monastic body, and, time permitting, the Motithang Takin Preserve.

Spend the evening at leisure exploring local markets, artisan boutiques, and cafés.

Day 3 | Thimphu to Punakha via Dochula Pass

After breakfast, depart for the beautiful Punakha Valley, crossing the breathtaking Dochula Pass (3,100 meters). On clear days, the pass offers magnificent panoramic views of the snow-capped Himalayas and is home to the iconic 108 memorial chortens.

Descending into Punakha, visit the revered Chimi Lhakhang, nestled amidst picturesque rice fields and known throughout Bhutan for its unique blessings and cultural significance.

Later, explore the magnificent Punakha Dzong, dramatically positioned at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Regarded as one of Bhutan's architectural masterpieces, the fortress showcases the kingdom's rich history and spiritual heritage.

Day 4 | Punakha to Gangtey (Phobjikha Valley) – Into the Glacial Valley

Begin your morning with a visit to the iconic Punakha Suspension Bridge, one of Bhutan's longest suspension bridges, adorned with colorful prayer flags and offering stunning views of the surrounding valley.

You may also enjoy a scenic excursion to the beautiful Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, perched above the valley and reached via a pleasant walk through terraced farmland.

Thereafter, continue your journey towards Gangtey (The breathtaking Phobjikha Valley). As the landscape transforms from subtropical valleys to open alpine meadows, you'll discover one of Bhutan's most pristine and peaceful regions.

Upon arrival, settle into your hotel and enjoy the serene atmosphere of the valley.

Day 5 | Discovering Gangtey & Phobjikha Valley

Spend the day exploring the natural beauty and spiritual heritage of Phobjikha Valley.

Visit the historic Gangtey Monastery, beautifully positioned on a ridge overlooking the valley. As one of Bhutan's most important Nyingma monasteries, it offers both spiritual significance and spectacular views.

Later, enjoy the famous Gangtey Nature Trail, a gentle walk through pine forests, traditional villages, and open meadows that showcases the valley's extraordinary beauty.

During the winter months, the valley becomes home to the revered Black-Necked Cranes, making it one of Bhutan's premier wildlife destinations.

The remainder of the day is free to relax, enjoy your surroundings, or explore the local village community.

Day 6 | Gangtey to Paro – Heritage & Scenic Landscapes

After breakfast, begin your return journey towards western Bhutan and the enchanting Paro Valley.

Day 7 | The Legendary Tiger's Nest Monastery
