Day 1 | Arrival in Paro – Transfer to Thimphu

Arrive in the beautiful Paro Valley, where snow-capped Himalayan peaks and lush green mountains provide a spectacular welcome to Bhutan.

Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your tour guide from Bhutan Escapes Journeys and begin the scenic drive to Thimphu, Bhutan's charming capital city. The journey offers your first glimpse of traditional villages, river valleys, and Bhutan's pristine natural environment.

Depending on your arrival time, visit the revered Memorial Chorten and enjoy a leisurely introduction to Bhutanese culture and daily life.

Day 2 | Exploring Thimphu's Cultural Heritage

Today is dedicated to discovering the cultural highlights of Bhutan's capital.

Visit the magnificent Buddha Dordenma, one of the largest seated Buddha statues in the world, offering panoramic views over the valley. Continue to the Traditional Arts School and gain insight into Bhutan's rich artistic traditions.

Explore the Folk Heritage Museum, visit the impressive Tashichho Dzong, and, if time permits, stop at the Motithang Takin Preserve to see Bhutan's national animal.

Enjoy the evening at leisure exploring local markets and artisan shops.

Day 3 | Thimphu to Punakha via Dochula Pass

After breakfast, journey towards the beautiful Punakha Valley via the spectacular Dochula Pass (3,100 meters).

Admire the famous 108 memorial chortens and, weather permitting, enjoy breathtaking Himalayan views before descending into the subtropical landscapes of Punakha.

Visit Chimi Lhakhang, the renowned Temple of Fertility, before exploring the magnificent Punakha Dzong, beautifully situated at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers.

Day 4 | Exploring Punakha Valley

Spend the day discovering the natural beauty and cultural treasures of Punakha.

Enjoy a scenic walk through terraced fields to the stunning Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, offering panoramic views of the valley. Later, visit the iconic Punakha Suspension Bridge, one of Bhutan's longest suspension bridges, adorned with colorful prayer flags and spanning the Pho Chhu River.

The remainder of the day can be spent enjoying the valley's peaceful countryside and riverside landscapes.

Day 5 | Punakha to Bumthang – Across Bhutan's Scenic Heartland

After breakfast, begin one of Bhutan's most scenic drives as you travel eastward towards Bumthang, crossing mountain passes, dense forests, and picturesque valleys.

En route, pass through Trongsa, home to the impressive Trongsa Dzong, strategically positioned above a dramatic gorge. Time permitting, visit the dzong and enjoy magnificent views of central Bhutan.

Continue to Bumthang, often regarded as the spiritual heartland of Bhutan and home to some of the kingdom's most revered monasteries and temples.

Day 6 | Discovering the Sacred Valleys of Bumthang

Today is dedicated to exploring the spiritual and cultural treasures of Bumthang, a region often referred to as the religious heartland of Bhutan.

Begin with a visit to Jambay Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's oldest and most sacred temples, believed to have been built in the 7th century. Continue to Kurjey Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's most revered pilgrimage sites, where Guru Rinpoche is said to have left his body imprint on a sacred rock. Nearby, visit Tamshing Lhakhang, renowned for its ancient Buddhist murals and religious significance.

Continue to Jakar Dzong, often known as the 'Castle of the White Bird,' which overlooks the Chokhor Valley and offers spectacular views of Bumthang's picturesque landscapes. Explore the charming countryside and visit Kenchosum Lhakhang, a beautiful temple complex housing rare religious relics and sacred scriptures.

Time permitting, visit Mebar Tsho (Burning Lake), one of Bhutan's most sacred pilgrimage sites. According to legend, the revered treasure discoverer Pema Lingpa emerged from the lake carrying a burning butter lamp, giving the site its mystical name. Surrounded by prayer flags and forested scenery, the lake remains an important spiritual destination for Bhutanese pilgrims.

The day also offers opportunities to experience Bumthang's traditional villages, fertile farmlands, and peaceful rural landscapes, providing a deeper appreciation of Bhutan's cultural heritage and way of life.

Day 7 | Bumthang to Gangtey (Phobjikha Valley) – Into the Phobjikha Valley

After breakfast, begin your journey back towards western Bhutan.

Travel through spectacular mountain landscapes before arriving in the serene Gangtey (Phobjikha Valley), one of Bhutan's most beautiful glacial valleys. Upon arrival, visit the historic Gangtey Monastery, dramatically positioned above the valley floor.

Day 8 | Gangtey to Paro

Following breakfast, enjoy a gentle walk along the renowned Gangtey Nature Trail, passing through forests, meadows, and traditional villages while taking in the valley's pristine beauty.

Later continue your journey towards the enchanting Paro Valley.

Upon arrival, visit the magnificent Rinpung Dzong, one of Bhutan's finest architectural landmarks, and the National Museum housed within the historic Ta Dzong watchtower.

Spend the evening exploring Paro town or relaxing amidst the valley's peaceful surroundings.

Day 9 | Tiger's Nest Monastery Experience

Today's highlight is a visit to Bhutan's most iconic landmark, the legendary Tiger's Nest Monastery (Taktsang Monastery).

Perched dramatically on a cliff face approximately 900 meters above the valley floor, the monastery is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in the Himalayan world. The rewarding hike passes through pine forests, prayer-flag-lined trails, and spectacular viewpoints before reaching the sacred monastery complex.

Following the hike, visit the ancient Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's oldest and most sacred temples, before returning to Paro. In the evening, guests may choose to unwind with a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath, a relaxing and authentic wellness experience.

Day 10 | Departure from Paro

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before your transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward journey.
