Your Bhutanese adventure begins with one of the world's most spectacular mountain flights into the beautiful Paro Valley. As the aircraft navigates between towering Himalayan peaks, breathtaking views provide an unforgettable introduction to the Land of the Thunder Dragon.

Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be welcomed by your Bhutan Escapes guide and transferred to your hotel.

The remainder of the day is dedicated to relaxation and acclimatization while soaking in the peaceful atmosphere of Bhutan's most picturesque valley.

Enjoy a welcome dinner and trek briefing introducing the remarkable expedition ahead.

Spend the day exploring Paro's remarkable cultural heritage before entering Bhutan's remote mountain wilderness.

Visit the magnificent Rinpung Dzong, the fascinating National Museum, and the sacred Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's oldest temples.

Throughout the day, gain valuable insights into Bhutanese history, Buddhism, architecture, and traditional lifestyle.

No Bhutan journey is complete without visiting the iconic Tiger's Nest Monastery (Taktsang).

Perched dramatically on a cliff nearly 900 metres above the valley floor, this sacred monastery is among the most revered pilgrimage sites in the Buddhist world.

The rewarding hike passes through fragrant pine forests adorned with colourful prayer flags while offering magnificent panoramic views of the Paro Valley.

After exploring the monastery, return to Paro for a relaxing evening.

Trekking Duration: 5–6 Hours

Following breakfast, drive to the trailhead near Drukgyel Dzong, where the legendary Laya–Gasa Trek officially begins.

The trail follows the beautiful Paro Chhu River through forests, traditional settlements, cultivated farmland, and pristine Himalayan landscapes.

As civilization gradually disappears behind you, the sense of adventure grows with every step into Bhutan's untouched wilderness.

Trekking Duration: 6–7 Hours

Today route follows the Paro Chhu River deeper into the mountains through dense forests of pine, fir, and rhododendron.

The scenery becomes increasingly dramatic as towering cliffs rise above the valley while distant snow-covered Himalayan peaks gradually emerge.

Traditional yak-herding camps and isolated mountain settlements offer fascinating glimpses into Bhutan's remote mountain life.

The spectacular campsite at Soi Thangthangkha provides unforgettable mountain views and a peaceful introduction to Bhutan's high-altitude wilderness.

Trekking Duration: 5–6 Hours

One of the most anticipated days of the trek unfolds as the magnificent Mount Jomolhari gradually reveals itself in all its glory. The trail traverses alpine meadows, yak pastures, and glacial valleys before reaching Jangothang, widely known as the Jomolhari Base Camp.

Surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks including Jomolhari and Jichu Drake, the campsite offers one of the most breathtaking mountain panoramas in Bhutan.

Trekking Duration: 6–7 Hours

Crossing dramatic high mountain passes and rugged alpine landscapes, today trek introduces an even more remote side of Bhutan.

The route offers magnificent panoramic views of towering Himalayan peaks before descending towards the historic settlement of Lingshi.

Dominating the valley is the impressive Lingshi Dzong, perched dramatically atop a ridge overlooking the surrounding mountains and traditional villages.

Overnight: Lingshi Camp.

Today trail continues through scenic highland landscapes dotted with yak-herding camps, alpine grazing meadows, and cascading waterfalls.

The peaceful mountain village of Chebisa offers an authentic glimpse into traditional Himalayan life, where centuries-old customs continue to thrive amidst spectacular surroundings.

Surrounded by pristine wilderness and dramatic mountain scenery, Chebisa provides a tranquil resting point before venturing into the even more remote regions of the Laya–Gasa Trek.

Trekking Duration: 7–8 Hours

Today trail climbs steadily through dramatic mountain terrain, crossing high ridges that reveal sweeping views across the Bhutanese Himalayas. The landscapes become increasingly wild and isolated, emphasizing the expedition's sense of remoteness.

Upon arrival at Shomuthang Camp, enjoy spectacular evening views across alpine valleys and distant peaks while relaxing amidst untouched Himalayan wilderness.

Crossing some of the trek's most scenic mountain terrain, today's route traverses pristine alpine meadows and high passes rich in wildlife and natural beauty.

Snow-capped peaks dominate the skyline while vast wilderness stretches in every direction. The journey showcases the grandeur of Bhutan's protected mountain environments.

Overnight: Robluthang Camp.

One of the expedition's most spectacular days unfolds as the trail crosses dramatic mountain passes and descends into beautiful glacial valleys.

Limithang is surrounded by some of Bhutan's most breathtaking scenery, including magnificent views of Gangchhenta (Great Tiger Mountain), one of the kingdom's most iconic peaks.

Overnight: Limithang Camp.

Today you arrive at the legendary village of Laya, situated at approximately 3,800 metres above sea level. Home to the unique Layap people, this remote settlement is renowned for its distinctive dress, traditions, and resilient mountain lifestyle.

Spend the afternoon exploring the village, interacting with local residents, and learning about a culture that has remained largely unchanged for centuries.

This authentic cultural encounter is widely regarded as the highlight of the Laya–Gasa Trek.

A full day is dedicated to discovering the fascinating traditions of the Layap people.

Leaving Laya behind, the trail gradually descends through forests, river valleys, and lush mountain landscapes. As elevation decreases, warmer temperatures and increasingly diverse vegetation transform the scenery.

The final trekking day leads towards the scenic district of Gasa. Along the route, pass traditional villages, terraced farmlands, and forested mountain slopes before arriving at this historic settlement.

Visit the impressive Gasa Dzong, a centuries-old fortress that once protected important trade routes linking Bhutan with Tibet.

Completing the trekking expedition is a truly rewarding achievement.
