Arrive at Paro International Airport and enjoy a scenic drive through beautiful Himalayan valleys to Bhutan's capital, Thimphu. Spend the remainder of the day relaxing, exploring local handicraft shops and markets before attending a welcome dinner and trek briefing. Overnight stay in Thimphu.
Visit the magnificent Buddha Dordenma, Memorial Chorten and the historic Tashichho Dzong. Explore museums, artisan workshops and cultural institutions while learning about Bhutan's philosophy of Gross National Happiness. Complete final preparations for the upcoming trek. Overnight stay in Thimphu.
Drive to Genekha village, the starting point of the trek. Hike through forests of pine, oak and rhododendron before reaching alpine meadows, yak pastures and the beautiful Gur campsite at approximately 3,290 metres. Enjoy spectacular mountain scenery. Overnight stay at Gur Camp.
Continue deeper into the Dagala mountain range across alpine ridges and pristine wilderness. Discover spectacular glacial lakes, dramatic mountain scenery and panoramic Himalayan views before arriving at the beautiful Labatama campsite, gateway to Bhutan's famous Thousand Lakes region. Overnight stay at Labatama Camp.
Spend the day exploring Bhutan's extraordinary network of alpine lakes around Labatama. Enjoy acclimatization hikes, breathtaking Himalayan panoramas, pristine glacial lakes, wildlife viewing and magnificent views towards Mount Jomolhari and surrounding peaks. Overnight stay at Labatama Camp.
Today's trek crosses some of the most dramatic terrain of the Dagala region. Traverse high mountain passes reaching approximately 4,520 metres while enjoying uninterrupted panoramic views of Bhutan's central Himalayas. Pass crystal-clear alpine lakes, seasonal wildflower meadows and remote yak-herding camps before arriving at the beautiful Pankha campsite surrounded by rolling mountain landscapes. Overnight stay at Pankha Camp.
Begin the gradual descent from the alpine wilderness into Bhutan's lower mountain valleys. Trek through forests of juniper, fir and rhododendron while enjoying the final panoramic views of the Dagala range. Pass traditional villages, terraced fields and prayer-flag-lined trails before reaching Talakha Camp for the overnight stay.
Complete the final section of the trek through scenic forest trails and traditional settlements before transferring back to the picturesque Paro Valley. Relax at your hotel or enjoy an optional traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath. Celebrate the successful completion of the Dagala Thousand Lakes Trek with a farewell dinner. Overnight stay in Paro.
